The Vetting and Barring scheme for people working with children and vulnerable adults has been put on hold.

Registration with the Vetting and Barring Scheme has been put on hold to allow the government to review it's process.

This will enable the scheme to be re-evaluated and streamlined to ensure maximum effectiveness for protecting children and vulnerable adults.

Voluntary registration with the VBS for new employees and job-movers working or volunteering with children and vulnerable adults was due to start on 26 July 2010, this is now not the case and will NOT go ahead.
