Latest news

The Home Office has published full guidance to assist employers and voluntary groups in implementing the Vetting and Barring Scheme (VBS).

The publication comes ahead of the implementation of key changes which mean that, from July 2010, employees starting work in an organisation or role affected by the new rules and volunteers working with vulnerable groups can apply to become ISA registered.

This document contains details on:

  • The scope of the Scheme.
  • Barring arrangements.
  • Responsibilities and duties for both employers and volunteer organisers, and the duties for those individuals you take on.
  • Timescales for the phased implementation of the Scheme.
  • Explanation of transitional arrangements around Scheme introduction.
