The Department for Children, Schools and Families (DCSF) has published annual statistics on preventable child deaths in England.
Child Death Overview Panels reviewed 2,000 deaths on behalf of Local Safeguarding Children Boards (LSCB's) last year.
110 deaths were considered to have been preventable.
Preventable deaths are those where there are "identifiable failures in the child’s direct care by any agency, including parents; latent, organisational, systemic or other indirect failure(s) within one or more agency".
