Playday is a yearly celebration of children's play. This years 'Our place' campaign highlights the importance of play in the community and aims to encourage more children and young people to play more outdoors.

Play is an essential part of children's development. Through play, children can explore the world around them, take proportionate risks and develop and practice essential skills.

Playday is co-ordinated by Play England and the National Children's Bureau (NCB) in collaboration with hundreds of national playday organisers across the UK.

Playday This year's campaign is entitled 'Our place' and aims to put children at the heart the community, and create safe play environments for children.

On Playday itself, and over the duration of the summer period children and young people will be encouraged to go out and play and have adventures.

There will be special events taking place all over the UK which will include activities such as; arts and crafts, singing and storytelling and safe physical play.

There are also lots of resources to help people plan their own Playday events.
