The Department for Children, Schools and Families (DCSF) has published research into children’s online risks and safety for the UK Council for Child Internet Safety (UKCCIS).

The report, Children’s Online Risks and Safety: A review of the available evidence (PDF 563KB) reviews access that young people have to the internet, the risks they face, and the steps being taken to protect them.

The main topics investigated as part of the review include:

  • evidence on access and use of the internet by children in the UK
  • evidence on the characteristics of children accessing the internet
  • evidence on the online risks for children and young people
  • evidence on attempts at safeguarding children’s online experiences.
