The Safe Network’s core standards and guidance for safeguarding children in the voluntary and community sector, are a set of national core standards, designed to help non-statutory organisations and groups put in place clear safeguarding arrangements for children and young people.

The core standards cover four essential safeguarding areas:

• safer staff and volunteers – recruitment, induction and supervision
• child protection
• preventing and responding to bullying
• avoiding accidents and running safe activities and events

What is in the 2012 edition?

• new information and guidance on cyberbullying
• new toolbox of resources - including two e-safety policies, an accident prevention policy and information on CRB checks
• new and amended elements within the self assessment tool
• new advice and guidance within certain elements of the self assessment tool
