'Make time for safety' week aims to raise awareness about the amount of accidents that seriously injure or kill children and how this could be prevented.
Accidents are the second biggest killer of children in the UK. Serious accidents can cause injuries to children that take months or years to mend, the mental damage caused often stays forever.

Child Safety Week is organsied by the Child Accident Prevention Trust (CAPT) a leading charity working to reduce the number of children and young people killed or seriously injured in preventable accidents.
Most accidents can be prevented by taking more care or taking a moment to think. The theme for this years campaign is “Make time for Safety” which aims to encourage parents to develop safety habits and be more mindful of potential dangers around the house
During the week key workers from different sectors will work together to help parents, carers, grandparents, children and young people prevent serious accidents.
The weeks aim is to try and enable a safer environment for children and young people of all ages, so they can live life day to day without unnecessary hazards, a FREE child safety week toolkit has been produced for organisations to get involved, this includes an ideas booklet, awareness poster and leaflets.

- fire safety
- poisons
- road safety.
