National Safeguarding Unit (NSU) - Safe Activities For Everyone

Moderation policies

To ensure that our messageboards provide a safe and friendly user environment, all posts to the forums will be pre-moderated

These rules cover the most common situations that can happen, but there may be other events that happen where we need to take action.  We will take appropriate action to make sure  that our messageboards and members are not disrupted, abused or compromised in any way.

Post deletion
Posts that breach any of the rules outlined above will not be posted.

Thread deletion and rejection
Threads that fall into any of the following categories will not be posted:

  • Pointless – the thread contributes no value to the messageboards
  • Crosspost – the thread was posted to more than one forum
  • Flame baiting – the aim of the thread is to flame or start a fight
  • Duplicate – there is already a thread on the same or a very similar topic
  • Off-topic – such threads will either be relocated to a more appropriate area or deleted altogether
  • SPAM – the thread was advertising or thinly disguised market research

Threads that do not fall exactly into one of the above categories, but which are deemed inappropriate due to their content or nature will not be posted.

Thread closure
Threads will be closed under any of the following circumstances:

  • Off topic - the thread is going off topic, but mostly contains useful information
  • Purpose fulfilled - the purpose of the thread has been fulfilled - the author's question was answered, the topic has become irrelevant, etc

Threads that do not fall exactly into one of the above categories, but are deemed to have reached the end of their useful life, may also be closed. In cases where the reason for closure is not immediately obvious, a moderator will normally post a final message explaining the closure.

Links
Members should not post links to external sites. Please use the blue feedback boxes to make suggestions providing they are not offensive, inappropriate or illegal. Any link which is found to be unsuitable for the Safe Network messageboards will be deleted.

Moderation explanations
Please do not start a new thread asking why your thread was not posted or closed as this will not be displayed. If you simply want to know why then please feel free to ask the moderator and they will get back to you directly.
