This is last opportunity to make a final detailed check of your event. You may require some further help to finalise your plans.
Prior to your event carry out a detailed check:
Access areas and routes – ensure clear access and exit routes. Make sure emergency exits are free and accessible.
Signage – ensure adequate signage is displayed where necessary. Try and have signage for emergency exits, first aid areas, fire points, information points, toilets and lost/found areas.
Volunteers, staff and stewards – on arrival, ensure all staff and volunteers have signed a register and are located in their designated area. If they have specific responsibilities make sure they are distinctive (different clothing, large badges and name tags). If you have a communication system, make sure its in working order.
PA system – if you have a public address system make sure its working correctly and can be heard.
For further help you should consider contacting your local services, they will help you with the following:
Local constabulary – they will give you advice or may even assist you with crowd control, public orders, emergency access, parking and general emergency information.
Local fire service – for advice on fire safety matters.
First aid – you may contact your local St Johns ambulance, British Red Cross or other voluntary first aid group to help provide first aid cover (there may be a small fee for this service).
Local authority – contact your local authority in your area for advice about
- health and safety legislation and emergency plans
- catering and food hygiene
- licences, such as temporary structures, serving alcohol, music and combat sports.
