To meet the legal requirements you must carry out a risk assessment.
Parents and carers:
- should have given their written consent for their child/young person’s attendance
- should provide information about any medical needs/allergies that their child may have, and have provided sufficient medication for the event if necessary
- whose child is disabled, must provide information relating to any care needs, consent must be given if intimate care needs to be provided
- should provide details about any specific dietary requirements
- should be made aware that they may be asked to remove their child from the event or activity they are involved in, if they engage in any illegal behaviour
- should provide accurate emergency contact details including who is collecting the participant at the end of the event.
Children and young people:
- should read and agree the principles of participation and code of conduct for the event.
- should ensure that they know who to contact or where to go in the event of an emergency.
