National Safeguarding Unit (NSU) - Safe Activities For Everyone

We don’t trust social care or the police

Sometimes people don’t trust children’s social care or the police and try to sort out concerns themselves. Training and awareness, and links with your local agencies, such as children’s social care and the police, are important for building respectful relationships.

Other people also have legal duties to keep children safe so you can talk to:

  • a health professional – GP, health visitor, designated nurse
  • a teacher
  • the NSPCC HelpLine

Remember children continue to be hurt or abused when adults keep concerns to themselves
